Imagining Urban Futures

2007, at AEC World Expo, NSE ground, Mumbai. A comprehensive pavilion getting all stakeholders in the urban sector was realised. Decision makers from state and city governments, consultants, urban infrastructure experts convened to create a draft resolution on Land reforms. Amongst other events were the workshops focusing on Transport, Sewage, Solid waste management, Water, IT Governance, Spatial Planning and the like.

An unprecedented city participation saw over 35 cities put up their development plans to, share and learn from their partner cities. Adding a unique identity to this pavilion were state booths, 200+ exhibitors, 80 Global speakers, 250 Government Representatives, 22Mayors, 28 Municipal Commissioners, 62 Additional and Municipal commissioners, 34 Directors and Jt. Directors, 197 senior engineers from municipal offices, apart from the 20,000 odd trade visitors. The event was inaugurated by Mr Jaipal Reddy, Union Minister for Urban Development.
2. Global and Local Alliances and Partners
The Overwhelming response of the cities was fully supported by JNNURM, Ministry Of Urban Development, Janagraha, UDRI& CNBC TV 18.
3. The Patrons
The Initiative was launched on a large scale with the support of private companies like IL&FS, HCC, IDFC, Feedback Ventures, GMR, GE Water Process & technologies, SAP, Tata Structura & Ultratech.

This year the AEC World Expo Urban pavilion hopes to double the city participation and yet again provide all stakeholders a unique platform to review the urban process underway and charter new directions of growth.
